Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
Why Brachioplasty?
Loose, excess upper arm skin can be successfully and safely corrected with minimal scarring using advanced surgical techniques.
As these before and after images show, excess skin can be safely removed, making your arms look thinner and younger.
Cause of Loose Arm Skin
Excessive upper arm skin can occur after weight loss, or it can be an inherited feature. This is sometimes referred to as the "Bat Wing" deformity. Disproportionate amounts of extra skin and fat limit the clothing the patient can wear, and can interfere with many activities. Direct excision and liposuction are the two surgical modalities used to correct this deformity. Large hanging folds of skin are best treated by excision; lesser deformities can frequently be corrected by liposuction.
The Procedure
The operation to remove excess hanging upper arm skin is called Brachioplasty. The excess skin and fat is first dissected free from the underlying arm structures; muscles nerves and vessels are protected. It is then pulled up, the excess removed, and closure is made leaving the scar in a natural groove, which is not readily seen. Every effort is made to provide the least scarring possible. The procedure is gratifying to patients with this deformity, and allows them to wear the clothing they desire.
